Here’s your chance to learn more about the sport of fox chasing! Workshops include mounted hound exercise, followed by Q&A and time to socialize. Riders and non-riders of all ages welcome!
*Riders must be mounted and in the tack by 8:45am.

Here’s your chance to learn more about the sport of fox chasing! Riders and non-riders welcome. Workshops will begin with mounted hound exercise (optional) followed by some Q&A with our huntsman and time to socialize in our clubhouse.
8:30am - Arrival & Check In

Check in with our Hunt Secretary and sign a waiver.
8:45am - Riders up!

Our hounds will move off promptly at 9:00am. Please be respectful of our hounds, staff, and other riders by being ready to ride by 8:45am. This is not the time to just begin tacking up!

We strongly encourage you to arrive with your horse tacked up. This reduces the risk of mishaps and stress of tacking up at a new place.

If you do not tack up before you arrive, please give yourself plenty of time to get your horse ready.

Horses may not be left tied to a trailer unattended.
9:00am - Mounted Hound Exercise

After some brief introductions by our huntsman, Robert Taylor, mounted guests will get a chance to ride with the hounds! Follow Goshen Staff as we get the hounds out for some exercise, referred to in the hunting world as "roading."

Safety helmet is required; vests optional

IMPORTANT: Guests who wish to participate in the hound exercise MUST be mounted by 8:45am. Otherwise, you will not be able to join the ride.
10:00am - Q&A and Tailgate

After hound exercise, stick around and join us for some socializing and tailgating in the clubhouse!

Robert will describe what we do, explain the roles of leadership (huntsman, Masters, and staff), and explain the different fields. This a great time to ask questions!

You can also access resources from the Masters of Foxhounds Association of North America (MFHA), the governing body of organized mounted hunting with hounds in the United States and Canada.
FAQs
Do I need to attend both sessions?
No, each workshop is a standalone event. However, you are welcome to attend both if you'd like!
Do I have to bring a horse in order to participate?
Only if you want to ride with us. Our workshops will begin with mounted hound exercise, which is optional. While we do not provide horses for guests, you are welcome -- and encouraged -- to trailer over and introduce your horse to riding with hounds. Those who join us on foot may "hoof it" and walk along behind the riders, or arrive after the ride is over (approx. 10:00am).

What is the parking situation?
We have ample parking for cars, trucks and horse trailers on a large grass field. Plenty of room for everyone!
Will I be able to pet the hounds?
While our hounds are generally friendly, they are working animals. Please follow our huntsman's directions and guidance before touching the hounds or anything in the kennels.
Is there an age restriction?
Folks of all ages are welcome to join us. We love juniors, so bring the family!
